A Paradigm Shift ...

In 1999, Kevin Kelly published a book entitled, "New Rules for the New Economy." At that time, the "cloud" was beginning to take shape as forward-thinking companies began to capitalize on the availability of communication over the World Wide Web to deliver their applications and to receive and store data at a central location so end-users could work anywhere at any time.  Service bureaus evolved into application service providers (ASPs) using Virtual Private Networks. "Cloud" computing today is becoming a "utility" where the general public has access to networks, servers, storage, applications and services, creating a dynamically scalable and cost-effective way to work and play.
