The KSCPA Conference on Kansas Taxes is an annual event sponsored by the KSCPA to provide CPAs with an opportunity to update knowledge on Kansas tax policy and to meet and network with State officials, legislators, and employees.  Participants are from all around the state and work in public practice, business, industry, government, and nonprofit.  Public practice tax practitioners make up the largest group of participants.

"Technical Review of 2012 Legislation"
After a lengthy debate, Kansas has enacted a major income tax reform initiative that includes an exemption for certain non-wage business income and rate reduction and restructuring.  Proponents say the changes will boost the economy (and revenues) by stimulating investment and employment; and even suggest out-migration patterns may be reversed.  Opponents point to potential state budget problems and various equity issues associated with shifts in the overall state and local tax structure.  This presentation will briefly review that debate in addition to summarizing features of the new law.
