Kansas Professionals Recognized as 2019 Most Powerful Women in Accounting Award Winners by CPA Practice Advisor

The Kansas Society of CPAs is honored to celebrate two outstanding Kansas accounting professionals who have won a distinguished 2019 Most Powerful Women in Accounting Award from CPA Practice Advisor and the American Institute of CPAs. The following inspirational leaders were presented with the accolade during a special ceremony on June 12 at the ACIPA ENGAGE Conference in Las Vegas.

How do you see yourself participating in shaping the future of the accounting profession?

“I have the incredible honor of working with a dynamic Board of Directors and a team dedicated to the success of CPAs in Kansas. Together we are striving to keep CPAs and accounting professionals future ready. We are also working to spark the interest of student talent to join us in our exciting future. This summer, we are hosting our first INSPIRE Business Camp for high school students! The camp will provide students with a memorable experience that showcases the various career tracks in accounting and how accountants are elite power athletes of the financial and business worlds.

How do you see yourself participating in shaping the future of the accounting profession?

The awards are given to twenty-five women nationally on an annual basis, and honor those who are having an outstanding impact on the accounting profession as a whole. Recipients are recognized for their remarkable contributions to the accounting profession through their leadership and include a broad range of roles, from executives with Big Four firms and Fortune 500 companies to small firm owners, CPA society CEOs and consultants to the profession. The award recipients are selected using the following distinct criteria:

  • Are a driving force in creating a culture of innovation or excellence within their firm, or helped, as a vendor, to develop technologies that empower firms to be more productive and profitable
  • Have reached a level of management and ownership within their company, with demonstrable impact on its success
  • Actively mentor those following in their footsteps
