Women to Watch Awards

The AICPA and KSCPA sponsor Women to Watch awards to recognize members who are both emerging and experienced leaders. The winners are presented with a crystal award and become listed as a Woman to Watch on the AICPA and KSCPA websites.

2015 – The AICPA and the KSCPA, in conjunction with the Women to Watch Awards, honored Men Who Get It. The term “men who get it” is used to describe men who actively support women in the workplace. A “man who gets it” knows that business works better when men and women cooperate. These men raise awareness of the importance of a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, CPA, CGMA presented the 2016 KSCPA Women to Watch awards on Wednesday, November 16 during Member Value Day. Currently the 2016-2017 AICPA Chair, Kimberly is the Global Accounting Strategy Director for the Financial and Professional Services Industries for Oracle America, a leader in cloud solutions and enterprise technology. Kimberly recognized winners and nominees for their successful integration of work/life balance and the advancement of women into positions of leadership.

L. Gary Boomer, CPA.CITP, CGMA L. Gary Boomer, CPA.CITP, CGMA is a visionary leader who innately sees possibilities instead of roadblocks. He is one of the most influential CPAs in the U.S., and is known for his ability to share ideas through various forms of communication. Gary is a prolific writer and speaker, and addressed the AICPA/KSCPA 2015 Women to Watch and Men Who Get It Awards Luncheon. The audience learned what it takes to be future ready in the CPA profession and why it takes courage to face the unknown in a new economy that is no longer scarcity-driven. Gary’s positive and forward-thinking ideas were well-received and appreciated by the attendees.

Dr. Cheryl Leitschuh Dr. Cheryl Leitschuh, a leadership development consultant and immediate past Chair of the AICPA Women’s Initiative Committee, presented the 2014 AICPA-KSCPA Women to Watch awards on November 19, 2014. Cheryl presented findings on the impact of women in the profession and identified the barriers women face in the profession, but also offered strategies for both organizations and the individual to overcome these obstacles.

Leslie Murphy presents award Leslie Murphy, CPA, former AICPA Chair and currently the President and CEO of Murphy Consulting, Inc., presented the 2013 AICPA-KSCPA Women to Watch awards on September 13, 2013.

Tommye Barie, CPA, AICPA board member, and Robert Schuster, KSCPA board chair, presented the 2012 AICPA-KSCPA Women to Watch Awards on September 21, 2012. Tommye conveyed her inspiring journey to leadership at the awards luncheon.
