Board Retreat 2025 | Transforming the Profession through Connecting, Innovating, Advocating and Learning

September 24, 2025

Each year, the KSCPA Board of Directors gathers for a strategic planning retreat, providing an opportunity to step back from the day-to-day and focus on the future. This retreat allows our leaders to reflect on progress, explore new ideas, and ensure KSCPA remains strong and sustainable. Most importantly, it’s about keeping member value at the center of everything we do. So the work of the retreat directly shapes the programs, resources, and advocacy that support you and your profession.

Below is the KSCPA Strategic Plan for 2025-2026, a roadmap designed to strengthen our profession, grow our community, and ensure Kansas remains on par with the rest of the nation in shaping the future of accounting. Guided by the pillars of Connect, Innovate, Advocate, and Learn, this plan represents the vision of our Board of Directors, guided by our member value proposition:

KSCPA is committed to elevating the CPA profession at every stage of your CPA journey and across every sector you serve. We connect you with other professionals through networking and training events. KSCPA represents you through advocacy at all levels. Finally, we invest in the future of your profession by strengthening the CPA pipeline through student outreach and scholarships. Elevate your career and shape the future of the profession with KSCPA.

CONNECT - Building Belonging and Engagement

INNOVATE - Anticipating Trends and Embracing New Practices

Increase Non-Membership and Non-Learning Revenues

LEARN - Fostering Growth and Learning

Design and Implement a High School Outreach Program and Grow INSPIRE Camp Attendance

The pipeline challenges are not going away, and we need to help identify and guide the future of the CPA profession. To that end, we’re deepening our high school outreach to introduce students to the world of accounting and finance.

Our goals:

  • Create program content
  • Identify initial high schools to present at
  • Invite members to participate in outreach presentations

Each of these strategic initiatives drives our organization—and the CPA profession in Kansas—forward. By focusing on connection, innovation, advocacy, and learning, KSCPA is positioning itself—and the profession—for long-term relevance and success. Together, we will create a professional community where members feel they belong, where innovation drives progress, where advocacy safeguards our future, and where learning inspires the next generation.
